A renowned writer and playwright, Friedrich Dürrenmatt (1921-1990) was also an avid painter and draughtsman. The underlying purpose of the Centre Dürrenmatt Neuchâtel (CDN) is to serve as a platform for presenting Dürrenmatt’s universal thoughts, and to better acquaint the public with his works of art.

Additional activities include hosting temporary exhibitions focused on the relations between text and image, and setting up concerts at regular intervals. As a space for deliberating and exchanging ideas, the CDN also organizes debates, lectures and readings.

Nestled in the magnificent Vallon de l’Ermitage area above Neuchâtel, the CDN boasts a panoramic terrace with a breathtaking view of the Lake and the Alps.
